I think it is important to read and learn about the lives of the Masoomeen (14 infallibles). It is also important to know Islamic Jusriprudence, atleast the basics, what I try to do before I make a decision is ask myself "what would Imam Ali, Imam Husayn or Lady Zaynab do in this situation?"
I start to read on the History of Ashura from the begining of Muharram to learn as much as I can. While reading I look for answers to these questions; what were the people like before Imam Husayn became Imam? (I'ld have to read from the life of Imam Hasan), what did the people do when Imam Husayn became Imam? Did lady Zaynab have to appear in public much? How did the people mourn for Imam Husayn? What mourning rituals were accepted by the masoomeen?
The sources and or references I use are, (1)The life of Imam Al Hasan Al Mujtabah by Baqir Shareef al Qurashi and translated by Jasim al Rasheed (2)Karbala and Beyond by Yasin T. al Jibouri (3)The courier DVD. I share whatever I've read with family members and the sisters I meet.
Lady Zaynab is my role model; I hope to adopt her level of patience, tolerance and oratory skills, insha Allah. |
